The bundled resource is the only javascript calendar plugin that worked for me! There are a couple of other plugins listed that do the same thing, but they have negatives like having unfriendly date formats and changing the date format is not properly supported.
This plugin has a nice UI date format: Wednesday, 9th May 2007 and it works!
The dynarchcalendar widget in this plugin has been useful to us. It has some incompatibilities with Rails 1.2 though. It invokes the private helper method selecthtml which used to take 6 arguments but now only takes three. The fix is easy.
